HOTEL TAHITI FORMENTERA
From the beginning the Tahiti Formentera was destined to be special. In its origins, in the first half of the 1950s, there were no more than five tourist accommodations on the island.There are currently more than 150. At that time the population of Formentera was only 3,000 inhabitants who lived mainly from domestic agriculture and fishing. At that time, the only economic activity was the extraction of salt from Ses Salinas.
There was no electricity, not even running water. No roads, no cars. It took more than two hours to arrive, on the first motorboats, from the port of Ibiza.
The Tahiti was chosen to be special because of its idyllic position on the then inhabited beach of Es Pujols, there were only two peasant houses in the area known today with the same name. Located between Punta Prima and Pedrera de’n Coix, and protected from wind and sea currents by a line of islands, this unspoilt beach retained all its natural charm. The family from Formentera who undertook this adventure, and who still manage it today, decided to keep it pure.
It began with a small beach bar and hosted the first discoverers of Formentera in a few beds distributed in austere rooms.
Its simple and welcoming character was maintained in the transformation, since 2014, in one of the reference hotels on the island of Formentera.
Thanks to the hospitable character of the people of Formentera, since its beginnings, the Tahiti has earned a good reputation for its close and family service, and a personalized service.
With the passage of more than five decades the process of continuous improvement in attention to details, has allowed the Hotel Tahiti to become one of the most special hotels on the island of Formentera.
